Creighton University and Peru State College

A) OBTAINING CREDIT FROM CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY

Participants who attended an 8-10 hour Discipline With Purpose workshop can obtain 1 graduate credit hour from Creighton University in Omaha, NE for a fee of $150 per credit hour.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS FOR ONE HOUR GRADUATE CREDIT

1. Complete the DWP basic training.
2. Submit a 3-5 page typed paper outlining an action plan for applying the 15 self-discipline skills in your subject area.
3. Research and summarize three (3) articles related to teaching self-discipline or classroom management practices.
4. Select any two other activities listed below:
    a) Design a code of ethics that reflects how adults will model or practice the 15 self-discipline skills.
    b) Design an illustrated set of the 15 skills that would be appropriate for adults and/or represent the culture of a school.
    c) Develop a pre-teaching checklist that will be used in the coming year.
    d) Select one or two of the 15 self-discipline skills and list five ways you are already teaching the skill to students. This list can include curriculum and/or  strategies such as those found in the ãTips Bookletä.
    e) Outline a discipline cycle that would be appropriate for the grade level you teach.

FOR TWO OR THREE HOURS OF GRADUATE CREDIT
1. Repeat the DWP basic training a second time or attend 2 DWP Graduate Days.
2. Complete the work listed above for the one hr. credit. (If not previously completed.)
3. Submit 5 lesson plans using the DWP lesson plan format as your model. Each lesson should feature one of the fifteen self-discipline skills and be age appropriate for the students with whom you work.

OBTAINING CREDIT FROM PERU STATE COLLEGE

Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska will begin offering an 8 week, three graduate credit hour interactive online course covering the content of Discipline With Purpose. Students will be given readings and assignments online with an opportunity to have online class discussions. Peru State is an NCATE accredited institution offering Baccalaureate and Master's degrees in Education. Visit the website at www.peru.edu.
